2.   Through the File System

The second method for finding the Steam screenshot folder is through the file system. However, it varies depending on the system you are using. Below, we have shared how to find the screenshots folder for Steam in three different operating systems.

●     In Windows

First of all, you need to access Steam’s installation directory. In Windows 8 and 10, the default directory is:

C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam

Steam

●     In macOS

The first step in macOS is the same as Windows. Access the default directory at:

Users/{username}/Library/Application Support/Steam

The username is not the Steam username; instead, it is the Mac username.

●     In Linux

In Linux, the first step is also the same, i.e., accessing the default directory. You can find the default directory in Linux at:

~/.local/share/Steam

The directories mentioned above only work if you have installed Steam in the default folder. However, if you have installed it at a different location, you need to locate it manually and follow the below-given steps:

  • Go to the user data directory.
  • If you have more than one Steam account, you will find more than one folder in this directory.
  • Each folder will have a number as its title – the ID number for different accounts. Usually, there is a single folder, but you may need to explore to find the right one if there are more.
  • Once you find it out, open the folder and search for a folder titled 760.
  • Open this folder and find a folder named remote. Also, open this folder.
  • If you have more than one game in the Steam library, there will be several folders here. You will have to explore manually and find the right folder.
  • After finding the right folder, open it and go to a folder named screenshots.
  • Your game’s screenshots will be in this folder.
